Márquez deja el Mundial «a tiro» tras vencer en San Marino, por delante de Marco Bezzecchi
Marc Márquez has bounced back from his sprint race crash to claim an incredible victory, putting him just one step away from a seventh MotoGP world championship title in Japan.
Starting from fourth, Márquez quickly found himself in a fierce battle with pole-sitter Marco Bezzecchi. While they fought for the lead, other riders faced drama. Young rider Pedro Acosta was climbing the ranks but had to retire due to a mechanical issue, and Francesco «Pecco» Bagnaia also crashed out of the race.
The turning point came on the twelfth lap when Bezzecchi made a crucial error. He overshot turn eight, which allowed Márquez to slip through and take the lead for the first time. Márquez held a seven-tenths of a second lead. Bezzecchi tried to pressure him by setting the fastest lap with three laps to go, but Márquez responded on the very next lap with an even faster time, effectively sealing his eleventh victory of the year.
Meanwhile, reigning champion Jorge Martín had a terrible day. He had technical problems with his Aprilia before the race even began, which forced him to abandon his bike and run to the pits. He couldn’t make it to his second bike in time to start the race, resulting in a penalty of a double «long lap.»
